2009 Guitar Center King of the Blues, New Song Choices

Guitar Center has announced the new 2009 King of the Blues contest. They have released several new backing tracks for the contestants to choose from. The first track on the download page is called "Big Band Blues".

This track is certainly well produced, but this track signifies one of the concerns I have heard throughout the forum this year is playability. Track selection is definitely very important, and the wrong track can kill you. This track seems better suited to a vocal background than a guitar. I have tried to solo against this one a few times without luck.

What do you think, can you jam to that

I think the tracks are produced very well, but not really geared towards guitar blues - especially a contest designed for guitar players to really try and show their blues savvy.

After all of the many suggestions given at the defunct KOTB forum, it appears that nobody at GC listened. Unfortunate - it really bums out the long-time followers of KOTB.
