The search for the ultimate overdrive pedal

In my musical life I have searched high and low for the ultimate overdrive pedal. Looking for something with a creamy sustain that allows my picking style to come through has been very difficult. Some have come close, but I have never really gotten there. I also have been searching for that ultimate distortion pedal too, but as close as I can get, I just don't seem to ever find something that has everything that I want.
Without going to some digital effect that sounds grainy, I will spend the next few blogs talking about distortion and overdrive pedals that I have had and that I have previously had.

i am having great luck with using several pedals at very low overdrive/gain settings running into eachother. i'm running the expandora with no drive, some gain into the mxr classic distortion using no gain into the fulltone fulldrive 2, no mosfet, vinatge setting drive at 10 o'clock, into the powerscreamer middle diode, gaine at 11 o'clock. when all 4 are on i get a creamy violinlike joeb, EJ sound with great definition, and either rolling the volume back or turning pedals off starts cleaning up the sound but retain is sin ging sustained quality. i have not found a single pedal that works right, but adding together several pedals really seems to accentuate the good qualities of each, and getting rid of the undesirable ones. the noise stays low because not one pedal is pushed very far. much more musical characteristics are retained as well.
