Where's the beef?
By KenBJammen on May 6, 2010 | In 2009 King of the Blues Contest
I just can't seem to get myself beefed up and hyped up for this years Guitar Center KOTB. In the past I just counted the days until the performance and worked on polishing what I had done. This year I just feel like it becomes another check mark on the gig calendar of life... Not sure that my heart is in it as much as it could. It could also be that I have 3 other very important gigs to do this month.
Two weeks from today... That's when I give it my all. One week until the whole things starts.
Follow up:
I have to wonder if KOTB has worn out it's welcome in the real world. KOTB started as a spin off of Guitarmageddon, which was in it's own right, an insane contest. How fast or without feeling can you play? There used to be youtubes of the winners of that contest, but I can no longer seem to find them anymore. Maybe I am typing Guitarmageddon in wrong? ![]()
Either way King of the Blues is much more pleasing to listen to than 10 people seeing how fast and furious they can shred their lives away. If I want to hear some serious failed shredding, I will head down to GC on a Friday night to hear all the kiddies practicing away. ![]()
Well the real life practice starts soon.... or not because I have to get ready for a gig this weekend in the Big city of Chicago. My daughter's band performs on the next Saturday so that will be important too. Maybe my priorities have changed, or maybe I am just realizing what my priorities should be.
If you want to discuss Guitar Center's KOTB (King of the Blues), stop by our forum, and register and discuss away. Many seasoned winners will be there to help you out!
