Analogman DS-1 review part 2
By KenBJammen on Jun 15, 2010 | In Welcome
In yesterday's review I went over a few tones with the Analogman modified Boss DS-1. When I got this pedal I had an odd chance to see another guitar player who was feeding an OCD into the Analogman. He said the tone was sustain forever with harmonic overtones.
So I pulled out the OCD

and fed it into the Analogman

and away we went.
Follow up:
To refer back to yesterday, here was the clean tone from the Ibanez Jem into the rectifier clone

I started with a test run of the OCD at a medium level

and then I turned the OCD up to 90% and gave it another test run

One thing to quickly notice, as the OCD gives creamy sustain, there is a lack of harmonic overtones.
So I cascaded the effects and made the first recording.

Definitely can hear harmonic overtones with a great and creamy not grainy sustain that has been produced. There is a little compression that is naturally created by the cascading of these pedals, but not to bad for a high gain set up.
I then went overboard..
I turned both of the pedals up to 95%

That was not pleasant at all. Tons of sick sustain at the expense of something... like tone...
There was a point I discovered that the harmonics that were created by the Analogman disappeared. The Analogman is a sensitive pedal, but not one that I would call touchy, just has to be set right.
For more information about the Analogman, you can find it here

Great distortion pedal. The unanswered mod questions are how well do they stand up to gigging, do they all sound the same? I may never find out because I only have one of each. My Keeley has stood up to gigging quite well, we will see if the Analogman is the same.
