Good day to everyone. This is the official announcement of Burlap and Blues contest X. This is our tenth on line contest (hence the name) and we again will be offering a prize.

The topic for this contest is play the blues to a shred track (tracks from Guitarmageddon 2005):

Here is an explanation of the topic. During KOTB every year we have several shredders playing to the blues tracks. During a discussion at BAB we decided if Guitar Center holds Guitarmagedon we will all enter and play blues to the shred tracks... LOL...

Each entry must make their best effort to play blues to one of these tracks. These tracks are not typical blues backers, but more suited for shred or fast rock guitar playing. Entries will be evaluated by the community after submission.
Here is how scoring will work:

Burlap and Blues active member will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite tunes and score all of the tunes in categories:

1. Favorite submitted tune (30 points possible)
2. How well the contestant played the blues with the backing track (50 points possible)
3. Difficulty of track played (20 points possible)

Each voter will get the opportunity to vote for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in category #1 and #2 . In category #3 the voters must rank the tracks from 1 to 10 easiest to most difficult before the end of the contest.
Each submitter must rank tracks, but cannot vote for their own tracks.

A BAB member may submit up to 2 tracks.
Submissions will be anonymous.

The members of Burlap and Blues will have 7 days (until midnight on the last day) to submit a ranking, any ranking submitted after this time will not be allowed.

PRIZES:

First place – One overdrive or distortion guitar pedal (still being secured, but it will be by the end of the contest). Value to be determined.

The fine print

Legal Crapola:

Only those who are current and active members of BAB with more than 1 post as of August 14, 2010 are eligible to enter. Again, the decision of the individual judges are final. If you don’t like it, or think you might not, don’t enter. On September 6, 2009, the contest will close. Community voting will take place for 7 days. Members of BAB who did not submit, are eligible to vote. If there are not more than 8 entries, the contest will be prolonged for 1 week to ensure that there are 8 entries. Once the final tracks are uploaded, they will be posted. All community members with 1 post as of August 14, 2010 will be eligible to cast a vote as long as their IP or other identifying feature of their profile does not match that of another member.

In the event of a tie we will have an independent judge decide which of the two tracks is the blusiest.

By entering this contest you agree to hold Burlapandblues.com, and its business partners harmless. What this means is that you agree if you enter and loose you have no legal whine ability or other legal action etc…..

Anyone found cheating in the voting whatsoever will be disqualified and prohibited from entering contests for the next year.
