By KenBJammen on Oct 28, 2010 | In Welcome
Yes, today I turned 42. Not much excitement in that, but there will be excitement as I start reviewing some new equipment. November should give us a review on the Heavy Electronics Grind Fuzz and possibly the Radio Havanna also! Some fun with Jamsgiving will be in order also for November!

Unfortunately at this time, comments to the blog are not allowed unless you are a registered blogger at BAB. In the past few days I have received several thousand spam blog comments, most from a Comcast USA server. I have asked them to address it and have heard no reply, so at this time I am disabling comments. Comments will resume at some point in the future. Pick punch 2 follow up
By KenBJammen on Oct 12, 2010 | In Reviews
Since my last review of the Pick Punch 2, I have gotten a few emails. I want to thank those who have submitted their questions, and will summarize them here for everyone.
#1 - Is the new pick punch available?
Yes it is, and you can get it at www.pickpunch.com
#2 - Do you think the design changes address the concerns about breaking?
Yes, for the most part. I will continue to punch everything that I have (within reason). I would not try and punch sheet metal unless you are willing to deal with the consequences.
#3 - Would you do a review of trying to punch difficult things and video it?
Not sure if I will at this time. I would like to see if it would handle some thinner metals, but clearly it is not designed for that. I would like to get a few more hundred picks from this before I try and see if it will withstand the test.
#4 - How much did you get paid or what compensation did you receive for doing this review?
None, all the reviews I do at BAB are transparent. If I review an item, I will tell you how much I paid, or if I received the item at a reduced cost or free. Even if I receive an item for free and it is bad, I will submit an accurate review.
#5 - Will you review my item on your blog?
Usually I can, please contact me through the BAB contact page and I will get back with you.
I hope that this has answered your questions.
Pick Punch 2 review.
By KenBJammen on Oct 9, 2010 | In Reviews
Earlier this year I did a review of the original Pick Punch. http://burlapandblues.com/bluesblog/blog1.php/2010/06/17/pick-punch-review In this review I noted that the pick punch broke very easily. In fact, I broke 2 trying to do a review of this product. I did the review and even though it was a good idea, the punch was not good for any medium or thick material.

Well, a few weeks ago, I heard from Pick Punch after they read my review. They agreed to send me an updated version of the pick punch at no charge. I happily agreed and received the punch a few weeks ago. I noted immediately that the punch was built very differently. Where the platform had been thin (where it had broken) it was now about 3 times as thick.

I was anxious to put this to the test!
Today is Come and Take It Day.
By KenBJammen on Oct 6, 2010 | In In real life
Today is Come and Take It Day. This day is here for the taking. Grab it. Take it and run with it. We're sure it's going to be a great day.
There is a slight difference between the terms "come and get it" and "come and take it". The first suggests an offer by someone, and therefore, approval to have whatever "it" is.
So means, check your free section on your local Craigslist for free things, but not for a free ride to jail, and stay away from my guitars.
Baseball playoffs..

Playoffs. Well the Cubs didn't make it another year, but in their not making it they kind of set a new record, for the longest streak of not winning a world series. Oh, well, there is always 2050...
