Earlier this year I did a review of the original Pick Punch. http://burlapandblues.com/bluesblog/blog1.php/2010/06/17/pick-punch-review In this review I noted that the pick punch broke very easily. In fact, I broke 2 trying to do a review of this product. I did the review and even though it was a good idea, the punch was not good for any medium or thick material.

Well, a few weeks ago, I heard from Pick Punch after they read my review. They agreed to send me an updated version of the pick punch at no charge. I happily agreed and received the punch a few weeks ago. I noted immediately that the punch was built very differently. Where the platform had been thin (where it had broken) it was now about 3 times as thick.

I was anxious to put this to the test!

Follow up:

I pulled out the old pick punch to compare the two. At first all I noted is that the new version is build a little more solid, and has a tiny bit more weight to it.

The pick punch on the right is the original broken pick punch. The one on the left is the version 2 pick punch. Note that the new pick punch is much thicker, and note the break in the metal. The weight of the new version is slightly more, but the construction seems much more solid than the first version.

Well, for the past week, I have been punching up credit cards very easily. (It was a credit card that snapped the first V1 pick punch).

I have punched about 250 useful picks with no signs of any problems. It looks like this on will be lasting me for some time. I now can honestly recommend this for those who would like to make their own picks. http://www.pickpunch.com/

Uniqueness of Idea: 5 stars out of 5, neat idea. Now that you have improves it!

Usability: 4 stars out of 5. Much better and solid. Still very usable, but the new size makes it a tiny bit more bulky and harder to get picks lined up well. I would RATHER have it this way than small and breakable.

Customer service: 5+stars out of 5. Quick reply, great customer service.

Overall value: 4.5 stars out of 5. This last improvement is great and makes this a great addition to anyone who might want to make their own picks!
