Guitar Center King of the Blues select a backing track
By KenBJammen on Apr 12, 2010 | In 2009 King of the Blues Contest
The first thing you need to do (that is after you sign up) is select a backing track to play over. This selection can make or break your performance. Last year during performances, I heard guitar players pick songs that had nothing to do with them or their playing style. Listening it a shredder play arpeggios over "A minor affair" did not fit well. Pick one of the more rocking tunes if you are looking for the shred fest, and not a slow blues.
Thoughts:
Think of American Idol and how important song selection is. Ever week a judge tells the competitor that their song selection will send them home and it does. I personally cannot stand watching too much of AI, but you can get tips from the professional musicians.
If you are a country picker, for goodness sake pick the country blues tune.

What I think of the American Idol finale...

American Idol Finale! blah blah blah Adam. Blah blah blah Kris. Blah blah blah Kiss played some old songs. Gene Simmons stuck his tongue out, never seen that before. Blah blah blah Kris won. Thank God it is all over. Now for re-runs of House!
Comparing King of the Blues with American Idol.
By KenBJammen on Apr 6, 2009 | In Music
As we are all aware, there has not been a King of the Blues contest for a few years, and there is no plans on having one any time soon. Each year though American Idol gets millions of voters every week calling in and voting for their favorite vocalist. After my experiences with KOTB and American Idol, there are some similarities and many differences!
