Video comparison of the PBT / OCD
By KenBJammen on Jul 31, 2010 | In Welcome
I made a quick oscilloscope test of the PBT OD and the Fulltone OCD.
This video shows an oscilloscope testing of the Pedals By Tone Overdrive pedal and the FullTone OCD. The first three notes are the clean signal, the second three notes are notes produced by the Pedals by Tone (PBT) overdrive. The last three tones are by the Fulltone OCD.
The PBT OD was set at 50% gain with the tone all the way to the treble setting. The OCD was set at 50% gain with tone at 80%. The PBT OD give a substantial amount of sustain and clean overdrive. There is a substantial amount of harmonics created by the PBT OD. There wave created by all pedals is very smooth and rounded. The OCD has less sustain but is a slightly quieter pedal. The quietness is most likely a result of the lower amount of overdrive. The PBT OD can create insane amounts of clean overdrive.

Pedals by tone overdrive conclusion

Well, I have had my Pedals by Tone Overdrive for a few days now and I really have fell in love with the tone that it gives. I have been writing my reviews as I play with the pedal, but today will be my summary entry into the Pedals by Tone reviews.
As I mentioned before I purchased this pedal based on the description given by the builder. Although the original sound clips were not the best, I decided to give the pedal a try. The first night I had this pedal I recorded a little clip to see how it responded and then how others responded to the tone.

Now any review of a pedal would be completely incomplete if I did not give sound samples of the pedal that I am reviewing. The pedal is advertised as a pedal that will take a small clean amp and turn it into a stack. The Pedals by Tone overdrive is a FET overdrive with a series of overdrives. This pedal is serial #7 and Pedals by Tone is a new or newer company that I have never heard of before purchasing this pedal.
(note this review was originally set to publish on 6/28/2010 but I have decided to move it up a few days)

Two days after ordering the pedal, it was right there on my doorstep. The pedal was packaged better than I would expect a Faberge egg packed. It was marked fragile everywhere! I wondered if I got the wrong package.
Well I opened up the package and found a well packed pedal double packed.

This is a real pretty pedal. The first thing I noticed it that this thing is LIGHT! Most boutique pedals this size have a little bit of weight to them. This was lighter even than a stock Boss pedal. This pedal is #7 (the seventh one made) in this style of pedals.
