-10 or -15 real temp.   Looks like we are going to get some -10(actual temp) or so, Sun-Mon.

I was in Fairbanks Alaska on a flight to Vietnam and it was 18 below, and the wind was hitting 80mph.  They had us in one of those tunnel goodies that butts up to the side of the plane and leads you into the terminal.  The thing had doors, and my curiousity got the best of me, I had to see what -18 with 80mph wind felt like, so I opened the first door I saw.  The wind hit it like a frieght train and just about blew it off the hinges and plastered it to the side of the structure.  Needless to say I pissed everyone off!  A few hours later I was in Vietnam in 126 ddegree weather with 100% humidity......NICE!  Meanwhile it was about 80 here yesterday.  I was doing some work in the back yard and had to take off my "T" shirt because it was just too hot!

if you are feeling cold and want to feel warmer, visit verhoyansk, yakutsk, or oymyakon. you'll feel a lot warmer when you return. you can enjoy average january temperatures below -52,  average highs of -34, and lows hitting close to -90. and that is without windchill. average temperature stays below zero from september to may.
if you think i misspelled verhoyansk, i didn't, they misspell it in all the english literature. if you look at the russian spelling, it is verhoyanks.

My car was showing -2.  They said -7 on the radio.  Relatively balmy compared to -21/-47.  No wind to speak of here yet.  The worst thing here seems to be black ice.  Melted snow refreezing as a glaze.   Most of the schools here are closed.

That's because the sun decided to spend the winter here.  Give me earthquakes any day of the week.  I'll be at the pool.

We made it up to -11 with a WCF of -35.   Tonight down to -50 Wind Chills.  Everything is closing early. Heck even the bars are closing early (which is a good thing, a frozen drunk is very easily dead)

6 deg this am. Probably record demand of elec today.

I just fired up the Kerosene heater in the the garage. It's been years. It will warm the entire house from the garage due to an air intake down stairs.

We had -9(actual) Sun/Mon.  Only got down to 0 last night and expecting sunny 35 today, mid-40s and rain by Friday.  Kind of like 'back to our regularly scheduled program.'

I love the south! A couple rounds of shat like that and I'd be gettin the F out of the cheese state !

Conditions like that are rare for us. Im at the base of the Cumberland Plateau and the last of that kind of weather ends right before it reaches us in the Tennessee Valley.

We had a fair amount of snow and ice on the ground, but a few days in the 40s-50s and its pretty much gone now.   It hit 60 yesterday.   Back to a low of 16 tomorrow night.  Forecast is looking pretty normal/seasonal for us, now.  Mostly highs 30s-40s and lows 10s-20s.

We've been in sort of a drought for a good while now.  Today the wind is blowing like Hell, and the whole of Southern Cali. is like a tinderbox.  Red flag conditions are posted everywhere, and one spark could lead to fires like we had over the summer, only worse because of the wind factor.

My neighbors been burning brush on both sides of me. We finished 2013 18" above average rainfall, couldn't set the woods on fire if you tried.

We finished the summer of 2013 with huge parts of the San Jacinto Mountains burned as far as the eye could see, as well as majoe parts of the Ortega Mountains burnt as well.  Right now the Southern California firefighters are a nervous as can be.
