Title: Polar Vortex V 3.0
Post by: KenBJammen on February 17, 2014, 02:02:52 PM
It's not done yet, 5 to 8 inches forecast for today.

That's snow, for clarification.

Relentless!

Well, we are getting a little "relent" this week.  Forecasted to be 51 today.  50s most of the week!!!  Much of the snow depth has melted away, we'll start seeing some bare ground soon.

Got into the mid 50s today.  I took a sleeping bag out and caught a nice outdoor nap in a lounge on the deck.  Then grilled hamburgers for dinner.  I am done with Winter.

I measured 6.2 although official was 5.5 at the airport 2 miles away.  Crazy with that much snow now nothing even slowed down. going to get above freezing for the second time this month, and then later this week freezing rain with accumulation of ice on the roads.  Of course, that would be the day I took off work...

Hope Spring makes it your way soon!  We are headed to 67 degrees today.  It will cool back off to the 50s and 40s later on, but its looking like Spring (thin layer of snow left and growing bare spots.)  I am ready to plan a garden and scope out some Morel hunting spots!

No worries, temps back to normal of -10 WCF (0 actual temps) by next Monday AM.  Great weather!  The warm up we are having right now feels great.  Was 18 on my drive into work.

We're presently at 63 degrees and the sun is shining. Barring a freak weather system the cold cold weather is over for us ,next comes the spring rains.

The freezing rain is starting to scare people.  One of the local hospitals has closed their clinic and canceled all non-emergent procedures for tomorrow.

I'll take snow over ice, any day!    Be safe.

Well, didn't necessarily get freezing rain, but rain covered in snow = 3" of slush on the road which is pretty comparable to ice.   Nobody really driving faster that 25mph on any road.

but, made it to work, and it will warm up this afternoon to about 40, which will melt all the snow in time for more snow tonight and sub zero temps next week.

We had a thunderstorm last night.  That makes it seem slightly spring-like, anyway.  Cooling back off, and we are supposed to get some rain and snow mix, with temps above freezing:  Recipe for Road Slushies.   Forecast is for more cold weather and some more snow over the next week.  Just when I was getting past feeling like I needed to hibernate.

It was so nice around here yesterday, me and the wife packed and drove 60 miles south to one of our favorite 1 day vacation spots got a room next to the bar took the wife shopping and then partied into the night.

We are now facing severe storms this evening . Conditions are right and tornadoes could pop up at anytime

Crazy weather.  Made it up to 43, rain and wind.  This morning snow, 20 with 35 MPH winds with possibility of gusts up to 55-55MPH.  Needless to say the snow made visibility next to nothing.  I bet those in Cali are struggling today too!

We've been having the high winds too, though it made it up to 60 today.  So much wind, 60 even felt kind of cold.  Looking like volatile Spring.

On a trip for work, funny that it didn't get that cold where I am from, but where I went got colder.  -22 WCF right now.  brrrrrrrrrrrrr.  Oh wel, spring will be here sooner than later.

We got an inch of snow last night.  The grass was showing for about a week; then gone again.

10 degrees now, and not going much warmer for awhile.  This weekend, forecast includes 1-3 inches snow/ice each day, Saturday and Sunday.  I guess I can't put the snow blower away quite yet.

Kind of funny how all the stores move ahead with their progression of seasonal merch.  Putting Spring/summer stuff out in the stores.  And you cannot find a coat or a pair of ski gloves in the stores.

I couldn't imagine the type weather  you guys have , Danny's baking in CA and Ken's in the Deep freeze'

Overall, MO is moderate on the cold and snow, compared to MN, WI.   But we get our share.  Our average snowfall is in the 20" range.  We are now looking at several days of not getting above freezing.  Some days of highs in the teens.  C'mon Spring!

Southern MO, is probably only a little colder, on average, than most of TN.  I am in the northern side of KS/MO; sometimes considerable difference in weather between North MO and South MO.

Branson in May will be very nice as long as you don't get rain/thunderstorms.   Usually we are well into spring weather by May.  But sometimes, we have stubborn late cold/rainy periods in May.

Im looking forward to Branson. My sons future father n law Im guessing late 60's early 70's had handled didtrubution for guys all the way back to Conway and Merle , George Straight and the last major talent was Blake Shelton.

They were originally from LA then the label sent him to Nashville, then when I tunes started letting you buy the single for a buck without buying the album. The money left. His age and being a fat cat on the payroll the business decision was , we're sorry but.

He moved to Branson and is handling live acts.

The 76 strip is pretty much a hillbilly themed tourist trap.  A lot of entertainers have shows and restaurants.  Silver Dollar City and Marvel Cave are pretty cool, if the weather is good.   The "downtown Branson" area is very different from the strip.

I've been going there occasionally since the mid 1960s.   My wife and I, plus 2 other couples had weekend trip down there last year.  Rental houses are a good deal in the off season.

Glad March is here.  We had a definite warm up to an actual temperature of -6 with WCF of -15.

Predicted to get above 32 on Friday just in time for a chance of freezing rain!

Man, I can't top that, but it is plenty cold here.  Low last night of -3, currently at 0.  We just got a fresh coat of ice and snow.  The weather guessers were way off on this one.  They kept predicting snowfalls of 6" per day for two days; then backed it down to 5-8" total.  Cancellations were flying; bars cancelled bands left and right over the weekend.  Ended up getting about an inch of ice, and an inch of snow.   And bitter cold with high winds came in behind it.   Bad enough, but the weather guessers ended up looking like the chicken-littles that they are.

Gradual warm up with more snow and snow/rain mix through the week.  We are supposed to hit 50 by Friday!
