Way cool Chuck!  You the man!   I still have my Gibson ES335, vintage sunburst Dot reissue which I still love.

Jam on my friend!

Frank

I have the same guitar in classic red. It's my brother's actually but he's letting me borrow it. I might wait a while before trying to order the HB again. I've tried twice and they messed up my order both times. I'm hankering for a Les Paul Jr. now.

Other Great Musicians / Christopher Cross?

Who knew Christopher Cross could play the shit out of a guitar? He's getting some great Dumble tone on this video and the next one with Michael McDonald Singing backup.

The blues backers are OK. They all sound good sonically. https://www.sweetwater.com/lists/lt.php?id=LBpRAlUMA1YJTgsFUQtRRQAEAVYDCgw

I got the Jeff Beck Noiseless pups installed in my Strat. Pretty good but the Buddha P90s are still my favorites by far. They sound the best through my favorite three amps (Bloomfield Drive, Cardiff and '57 Deluxe). I have a Godin with Lollar P90s for humbucker slot and a Lollar Strawberry Blond single coil in the center position. I like the tone of that guitar better than the Jeff Becks as well. I've concluded I'm a P90s man. Crisp with a bite. Other pups just don't have that bite.

OK, this lockdown crap is getting old. I mean I'm good with staying indoors as long as it takes but Dang. Getting cabin fever bigtime here. Looking like the end of May maybe. Maybe longer. Kind of worried about the food supply. Hope ya'll are staying positive.  ;)

Hi guys ! So far so good. Hope everyone is safe. We’re locked down in Florida. We went from everyday’s a party to everyday’s isolation. I got a 30 ban from FB probably a good thing

You got a 30 day ban?  :D Where you at down there BH? My Uncle used to live in Stuart before he passed. Two of my nephews and I did some fishing down there. Man, what a blast!

Getting set up to record a drum track. A mexican radio station is coming through the DAW. Guess I'm going to have to line the walls and ceiling with copper foil. What a pain in the arse!   :cantlook:

I tracked down the problem. It turned out to be a GFI outlet in an adjacent room. I reset it and BOOM! In effect the grounding problem created a radio antenna in the wiring between my studio and that outlet. What a relief.

I'm using Pro Tools. DAW is a UA Apollo USB. I wish I'd gone with the 8 input one that uses the Thunderbolt but I was out of card space on my PC. 8 inputs is much better for drums as you can adjust the level, EQ etc of each mic. I'm getting a wicked high pitched hum when recording anything electronic directly (keyboards, electronic drums), especially the Helix guitar processor. I think it's called a two cycle hum. The Roland drums and Helix both have the option of using a mic cable which I tried. Buzz still there. I tried using an ISO BOX on the Helix, got the Helix up off the floor to no avail. I thought it might be that my DAW sits directly above my recording PC but when I record bass guitar directly (straight into the DAW), it's very quiet. Recording amps with microphones is also much cleaner except for the buzz of the amp of course. Maybe my wireless keyboard and mouse? I don't think that's it either. When KOTB was happening, I recorded some of my stuff direct back then and had the same problem while using wired mouse and keyboard. Probably going to get a noise reduction plug-in. I tired a thing back then for getting rid of what they called "line noise." Didn't work either. Don't know if it's the wiring in my basement or what. Wonder if it could be fluorescent lights in adjacent rooms. They're not turned on but maybe that doesn't matter? Any advice is appreciated! Hope y'all are well.

I meant to say Microphone cables (stereo), not cable on the Helix and Roland drums. ;)

Amplifiers / Two Rock Bloomfield Drive

I can't say enough good things about this amp. It was too expensive but on the other hand I can get rid of a bunch of other amps. Not a good time to sell right now I suppose with the gdamn Corona virus. Back in the day Corona virus meant you drank too many Coronas and you called in sick to work. Great demo of the amp here by Joey Landreth. https://youtu.be/qgB_FTvlkY4 I like to set my amp up like Joey does, all the knobs at 12:00 o'clock. Mainly use the Bypass feature (and lead) which bypasses the tone stack. I use a Strymon Blu Sky verb through the effects loop, a Strymon Timeline in front on Tape Slap. The onboard verb is great. I just prefer the Blue Sky. I have the 40/20 combo version in Slate Grey. I don't use any OD pedals. I feel they take away from the beautiful tone of this amp. The mfer weighs a ton. Huge transformer. It sucks hauling it out of the basement. The video following this one is great too, featuring Matt Schofield and Josh Smith with a demo of the Two Rock TS1. Hope y'all are well and avoiding the rona. ;)
