The Sg arrived a couple of days ago, I immediately cut off the '9s that were on it, oiled the fretboard, put 10s on it, and raised the action a bit on the treble side, only to discover it played even better lover than it was before.  (You couldn't slip a butterfly's fart between the strings and the fretboard to begin with)  The thing's a little monster, and well worth the money!  Tone for days and days!  It's so light it's like playing air guitar!

Reading the specs on that... I'm jealous! " Comfort and playability were two of Gibsonís primary concerns when they were designing the SG Special. Youíll be delighted by how this guitarís fast SlimTaper neck profile comfortably fits your hand in just the right way. For your playing pleasure, the rosewood fingerboard is buffed to silky smoothness and bound with rolled edges so that no fret ends impede your dexterity. The frets are dressed to perfection using a Plek Pro machine for optimized playability. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard youíre likely to own." Kick ass!!! Wish I had the dough, I'd be getting one my own seff!
Chuck:  $32.00 a month!

I'm still in the fight.  The blood thinner Eliquis caused a bleed in my left retina, which pretty much blinded me in what was my "good" eye, but the blood clot in the pulmonary  artery has disintegrated.  Finally killed off the bone infection in my leg with a stem cell surgery, and a super antibiotic called "Zyvox".  I'm hanging tough!!!

That's what I was using when I played in "New Buffalo Springfield".  It was perfect for that gig.

I picked up a couple of the Boss Katana amps.  I never would believed I could fall in love with a solid state amps, but the 100 watt has 8 channels, and they're all programable.  The 50 watt has 4 channels, same deal.  The only thing you have to mes with when you set up is the master volume, and that doesn't change the tone of what you've programed.  It also comes with 50 effects, that are also programable.  I've been using both of them with a Live Wire Solutions A/B/Y box, and the tone is consistently the best I've ever got.  No running back to the amp adjusting the tone every time I change the volume.  Best of all, both amps came to a grand total of around $570.  They don't sell like hotcakes, hotcakes sell like them!  I'm still keeping my pile of Fender amps, but I won't be parting with these any time soon either!

General Discussion / So Long Debbie, Rest In Peace...
« on: July 30, 2018, 04:01:13 PM »
Beth's step mom, Debbie Suit passed away night before last..  She had crashed 3 times, no pulse, and not breathing.  They brought her back every time.  She crashed a 4tj time Saturday, and they gave her CPR for half an hour to no avail.  She was a very sweet lady, and only 62.  The band will be doing a benefit to help cover her final expenses.  We had her at the house for close to three months, trying to help get her well, but it just didn't work out.  Eventually, I had to take her to the hospital, and she spent the last month of her life the.  I'm going to miss that gal...
