! No longer available

I just got one of these from the good, good people at Zzounds.  It's going to take me a while to figure out all the bells and whistles, but if you watch the entire video you'll be pretty amazed by what it can do!

Life is just a party and parties weren't meant to last.

It's starting to look like the Purple Pump died of a drug overdose.

I was actually a big fan of his.......RIP

I picked up a new Marshall AS50D for my new Fender Sonoran acoustic/electric.  They made a limited run of blonde ones, one for each GC store.  I'm loving this thing more than any acoustic amp I've played through!  It produces the sound of the guitar spot on.  It also has an on board channel for a mic, so it's the perfect little beast for playing solo. Guitar case in one hand, amp in the other, "Where do I plug in?"  It has two Celestion 8" speakers, and frankly I didn't expect much out of them, but I plugged a Telecaster into the amp, and it was packed with all kinds of low end punch!  It also has input for a sterio, CD player, or drum machine, a built in digital reverb, and a chorus, and there's also sterio separation for the speakers.  All in all, a pretty big bang for the buck!  It's rated at 50 watts, and I believe it too, especially after I plugged the Tele into it!  I never thought I could love a Marshall amp, but I'm getting this one flowers and candy for Valentines day!

I picked up a Fender Sonoran acoustic/electric yesterday.  Candy apple red with white matching late '60s style headstock, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, pearl picguard and binding.  Fishman electronics.  Killer tone and play-ability.  Nice HSC.  It's made in China, but I'm damned if I can find one flaw in it.  Easily the best acoustic/electric I've ever had, including two Martins in the $2,000-2,500. range.  It's good what Fender did![/i]

General Discussion / SAILING
« on: November 23, 2015, 04:32:07 PM »

I took Beth to see an old buddy of mine that I've known since 7th grade.  We all went out on his sailboat which has a slip in Long Beach, right by the Queen Mary.  I haven't been sailing in 25 years or more, but it's a lot like riding a bicycle in as much as you don't forget much!

Guitars / Just Pulled Off A Deal For One Of These!
« on: September 18, 2015, 12:25:33 PM »

An SG Baritone.  It has an over-sized body to compensate for the 27 inch scale neck, 24 frets, Ceramic magnet pups, nitrocellulose finish,  hard shell Gibson case, with the strings set up as B,E,A,D,F#,B.  I've wanted a Baritone guitar since I traded off my Fender Bajo Sexto Telecaster.  It's currently in a GC in Maryland, and ships to me today!

Guitars / I Got To Play A Real Guy 1956 Goldtop Last Night!
« on: June 15, 2015, 11:38:16 PM »
I was hanging out jamming at the Pit Stop last night and a guy came in to play who was also a collector.  He had a '56 Goldtop in tow that was the finest example imaginable!  He let me play it and I've got to tell you it had the finest, fastest neck I've ever played!  This guitar was just beyond belief!  There were no dents, dings, or cracks, just a tiny amount of very fine finish checking.  It was simply beautiful.  He said next week he's bringing in a '59 Standard flame-top, and I get to check that out as well!  I don't know what country you have to be president of to afford guitars like that, but I'm sure as Hell gonna find out!

Guitar Effects / Walrus Audio Mayflower
« on: May 22, 2015, 06:25:57 AM »
I took delivery of my Walrus Audio Mayflower today,  It's a slightly more aggressive overdrive pedal than the Walrus Audio Voyager, with a little more mid-range.  People say the two pedals are the perfect two to pair up, using the voyager to drive the Mayflower, and people are right.  The pairing of the two sounds incredible, light years beyond anything I've ever owned.......I so happy!

General Discussion / B.B. KING
« on: May 15, 2015, 12:34:05 PM »
As I'm sure you've already heard, B.B. King passed away at the age of 89 at his home in Las Vegas Nevada.  There's nothing more to be said.  Anything you can say about him has been said innumerable times, and rightfully so.  Long live the King.

Traded in my TC Electronic Mojo Mojo for a killer deal on one of these!  I could get good sounds to come out of the Mojo pedal, but it wanted to be stroked, with four knobs and a toggle switch it was kind of hard to dial in.  This is a better sounding unit, with the simplicity of three knobs, Volume, Tone, and Gain.  What really sets it apart from the Mojo is I can't get any bad sounds to come out of this one!

Other Musical Instruments / Fender Banjo
« on: March 05, 2015, 04:57:30 PM »
I got a killer deal on a Fender FB-5 5 string banjo a couple of weeks ago.  I can't figure out how to post any pictures of it, so you're going to have to take me at my word, it's a banjo alright!  I've been learning some roll patterns and can already play some songs on it.  Earl Scruggs I ain't.
