Bass Guitar Discussion Area.
« on: March 26, 2013, 08:50:45 PM »
The purpose of the Bass Guitar Discussion area is to talk all things bass guitar.  4 string, 5 string 6 string 8 string chapman stick.  Bass amplifiers, tube bass amplifiers, solid state bass amplifiers, bass effects.

Thanks!
Does anyone ever read these things.  I have some guitars, some amps and some effects but none of them play the guitar for me.... Yet.

How do you get a bass player to turn down? Put sheet music in front of him.

Too Crude ! A true bass player is as gifted as any other true musician. The band ain't shit without him either.
I have been fortunate enough to get a great bite of the Apple of Life. One thing I know for sure. Watch out for the Worms!

This is possibly true on stage, but I've had some bass players, most of them in fact, that I had to spoon feed the rest of the time when they weren't playing.  Dumb as a bag of rocks, almost every damned one of them.  Jerry Cox, and Bradee are about the only exceptions I can think of.  It wasn't so much that they couldn't conjugate verbs or stuff like that, just always some stupid shit, trying to compensate for the fact that they were "only the bass player".  I could tell you some stories, but I'll spare you this time.

Good bass players are very hard to find.

I have had the priveledge to work with some fine bass players, and work with some terrible ones.

You know what they call someone who hangs around with musicians???   A drummer.

I have a Jazz bass with a flame maple neck, I also have a 1929 Kay String bass.  The Kay needs to be completely rebuilt.
