volume reducer for AUX input to Fender M80 amp?
« on: May 10, 2013, 06:51:40 PM »
Thsi is not about guitar effects per se, but see I got this Fender M80 combo amp, and I tried to use a little (toy almost) electronic keyboard into the AUX jack for use as a drum track,
but the problem is, the volume is overwhelming even with the keyboard's volumes at its lowest, and there is no volume control on the particular amp input.

I what I'm asking of you all pedal effect aficionados, Is there a gizmo I could put between the keyboard output and the AUX input that I could use to reduce the volume?

Thanks for your kind attention and, hopefully, replies.

are you going from a speaker out to the aux? if it's a line level out, it should work fine.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, going from the headphone jack on the keyboard into the AUX jack of the M80 amp.

But the volume is too high at the keyboard's lowest setting.

Maybe I am mistaken in calling the amp input the AUX,  whatever it is, it is the one with no volume or tone control,  those are governed only by the device that's plugged in.

Thank you.

Any recommendations?  I wonder Does Danelectro make one?  However, I will not spend over about $30 US for such a thing.

Does anyone ever read these things.  I have some guitars, some amps and some effects but none of them play the guitar for me.... Yet.

Is the keyboard headphone out going into one of the 1/4 Input jacks on the front of the amp?  Or going in somewhere else.

I don't think headphone out is the same as line level.   Probably going to be hotter than line level.   If you are going into an instrument (guitar) input, I think that jack is expecting something much lower than line level.

So, my hunch is that you are sending a hotter-than-line-level signal into a jack that is expecting a lower-than-line-level signal.   Nothing good is going to come from that.

Do you have a stereo, or any kind of PA gear to run the keyboard/drum sound through?   Or, does the keyboard have any other outputs?

My memory is not the best ... I'll have to wait until I get home to look at my amps again....
Please forgive me if I have totally confused myself anout which amp I was plugging the keyboard into ... It might not have been my Fender M80, it might have been my Cube Street - duh.

this is a very nice community. not big, but you have some world class guitar players, plus one hillbilly who plays backwards.
