Instrumental cover of old song
« on: June 02, 2013, 06:03:45 AM »
This is from a new project we're working on. And also one I did NOT want to do. There wasn't any arrangement of it out there I liked.

This was a couple days putting together, guitars tonite - but no vocals yet.

Particulars: Strat, Ethos, Mesa 5:50 - everything else was from Sonar plug-ins.

Like the tone, sounds great Mark.
Does anyone ever read these things.  I have some guitars, some amps and some effects but none of them play the guitar for me.... Yet.

Thanks guys!

Next, I think I'll record something direct. That is one flexible pedal, but easy to get wrong. If you're not careful with it, it can be overwhelmingly bright.

BTW, it didn't hit me til just now but this sounds like a thing I did years ago with a friend of mine back in Chicago. The tradition had been at this one station, WIND I think, that at 1 am every nite they would play the Whiffenpoof song as a "better be in your dorms, locking the doors" song for Northwestern University on the north side. My friend John, who taught drums at the same store as I taught guitar, said the DJs who had that time slot were  always complaining about the lack of Whiffenpoof tracks available. He suggested that if we recorded it, they would play it, and he was right. They even brought him in for an interview. Air time....never any money... If that title doesn't ring a bell, maybe the lyric does...  "We're poor little lambs who've lost their way - bah, bah, bah."
