What's the best reasonably priced chorus pedal out there?
« on: June 12, 2013, 04:15:25 AM »
It has to have true bypass, and I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on it.  I gave my old Boss ME-10 the deep six, and it had a ton of that sort of stuff built in, but I've been slowly building up my pedal board, and a nice pedal chorus ought to just about finish it off.
They call it the Blues, but the shit makes me SMILE!

you really only have one choice. neunaber chroma. it's a no contest. it is not a true bypass, but you don't need it with this one, as the buffer circuit is amazing, and has a very high input impedance. don't confuse it with a boss pedal buffer.

neunaber technology chroma stereo chorus

the second best choice, would be the tc electronic corona chorus. it has a toneprint and is true bypass plus analog dry through.
both this and the chroma can be edited in the computer to create custom patches with all parameters (not just the ones the pedal itself has control for) fully tweakable.

of course if you sign up at the g&l guitar forum and do a weekly lunchreport (5 days) you can get a free bbe mindbender chorus.

My Boss CE5 is an ok chorus.   But the weakest link on my PB.  I would like to upgrade, but its not a high priority.  Looks like TC can be had for 129.   With the neunber at 229.   Thanks for the tips, Yo.

Yo,

what do you think about the new visual sound chorus?

Interested in your thoughts.
Does anyone ever read these things.  I have some guitars, some amps and some effects but none of them play the guitar for me.... Yet.

i didn't care for it much, but i was comparing it to the chroma, and that is a loser for any chorus pedal. i also hate the shape of vs, it is unpedalboard friendly to the nth degree.

I'm not going to find the Chroma at GC or MF am I?  I checked out a bunch of viddys of it, and it's for sure the sound I want, even though I'm a little pressed for cash, I'd rather wait and save my nickles and dimes!  Too Cool!!!

I was checking out some of the other pedals and they all sound really good!

But here's what really got me interested - that you can get a free software download that will transform any one the stereo effects into another one of their stereo effects. ie you can make their stereo chorus into a stereo delay. That is something I've never seen before. Course I don't get out much!

Thanks for the heads up yo....

i don't think that for delay, reverb and chorus you can beat this company right now.

What I really dig about the Chroma is that most chorus pedals have a tendency to make you sound a little out of tune, for some reason this one doesn't seem to, even when you pour on the sauce.  I'm not a real technical guy, so I don't know exactly why that is, but I know what I like.   :P

I thought the same thing while listening to the demos.   I think that helps the Chroma earn the extra $100 in price.

On my Boss CE5, I almost never put the depth control past 11:00 or noon.  Too much out of tune dissonance.
