Singing for My Soul
« on: September 27, 2013, 12:28:59 AM »
A guy at another forum I visit posted this original, I really liked the song and complimented him, he invited me to play some harp on it.

Really good lyrics, musically to me it's Lou Reed meets JJ Cale with a hillbilly on harp.

I have been fortunate enough to get a great bite of the Apple of Life. One thing I know for sure. Watch out for the Worms!

The guy I recorded this with is Bruce Lehane he has been a track coach @ Boston University for the past 30 years

He's pretty accomplished in developing marathon runners. Good Song Writer also !

i tried to fly way over the rainbow
where the stars all shine
i wound up back on the sidewalk broken
fighting shadows in my mind
fighting shadows in my mind

i couldn't bear how the spotlight stared
on the stage where we were  bought and sold
i make no claim on fortune or fame
i'm just singing for my soul

it's no secret i'm past my prime
but i still find  life's sublime
as i make the long hard climb
through the slow mystic passageway of  time

i turned my eyes  to the skies
i saw the heavens roll
No, i don't know where the rainbow goes
i'm just singing for my soul

yeah, i'm just singing for my soul
