Baritone Trade
« on: March 23, 2015, 07:58:27 PM »
Traded an unused entry level ibanez bass for a squier baratone.   I am mostly playing the fender jazz bass when I do play and the different range will be useful when I record.  I am putting a GK-3 on this for synth access.

Overall I get the lateral trade deal.  One cheapo guitar for another, but this I can use.  Will be a better fit if I have to play lower.  Overall not as cheap feeling as I would expect, but still cheap.  I like that it has a fixed bridge, but dont like that it is not string through.

Does anyone ever read these things.  I have some guitars, some amps and some effects but none of them play the guitar for me.... Yet.

I love baritone guitars!  If you listen to the old Motown stuff, they're all over the place.  All of Duane Eddy's stuff was done on a bari as well.  If you get good at transposing for it, you can use it quite a lot!  I used to have a Fender custom shop Telecaster bari that was super nice, but I wound up trading it for a pile of recording stuff.

It came in candian tuning (A), and I moved it to B, but after some consideration, I am going to bring it back to A

One thing you'll find with a bari, you have to give them about 4 truss rod adjustments a year, or every time the weather changes.

If it's making any fret noise, (or starts) 90% of the time that's what the problem is.
