THE REDONDOS
« on: July 21, 2016, 02:18:47 PM »

This is the surf band we started in 1963 when I was 13 years old.  Our lead singer, and my best friend, Davey Gearheart was told by his parents in late '64 that they were getting a divorce.  He went to their upstairs bedroom, got his father's pistol and committed suicide, hence the title, "Davey's Wave".  The entire CD is dedicated to his memory.  It took 53 years to make our boyhood dream materialize.

Sounds good, Danny.  Sad story.

Cool, did you not use a singer on the song for a tribute ?

It's an E.P.  Two of the songs have Beach Boy inspired vocals, and two of the songs are instrumentals.  For "Davey's Song" the singer is silent, and has been for 51 years.  When we set up to play live there will be a mic center stage for him that no one else will use.  This whole enchilada was our boyhood dream when we were just little punks.  We were best buds, and Davey will always be a part of that.  The album cover art was done by another boyhood friend, Greg Wigler.  I've known all of these guys since before I turned 12 years old.  Everything was written to sound like we did it in '62.  It's kind of like nostalgia, without having to remember anything.....

Cool vibes to the music.   Sometimes the hardest stories make us stronger
Does anyone ever read these things.  I have some guitars, some amps and some effects but none of them play the guitar for me.... Yet.

It's all wrapped up!  The songs are finished, the art work is good to go for the jewel case, and the CD itself.  It's an E.P. with a bonus track.  It all just has to go to press!  The best part is, it only took 53 years!
